Well Ek did say a decision was "imminent" like 30 min ago, so he probably needs like another week or so.

that means he will def be a devil, here is my reasoning

he is being wined and dined by his agent, gm's and all that while knowing that the devils have no money so why not eat now before he signs with them?

here have another fillet mignon or would you like some wild salmon

well lou only lets us have raman noodles and mac n cheese so hell yeah

Its not like Parise is broke man, he made millions already now its more about where could i play for the next 10 years? Do I want to do this again in my career? Do I want to be close to family? Is a championship or money more important to me? Do I want a warm climate or cold one? Do I want to be THE Guy or do I want a great centerman? And once he has answered those questions he has to go through and decide ok Do I like Detroit? Can I really go to a close rival in Pittsburg? Is San Jose on the downswing or upswing for a cup? Can I jump ship like Hossa to the guys that Beat us in the Finals a month earlier? Money is definitely secondary to him ATM...

Devils could help out with the decision and pull their offer and sign Semin ,Suter and maybe Jagr. Kovalchuk did this too, His agent Grossman posted on twitter that he would have a decision within a few hours and then it ended up being a few more weeks. He was our Captain and we wanted him back but clearly he isn't sure if he wants to stay here. So quite frankly Im done with the twitter watch and while the smokescreen is up for all the other teams waiting on Zach lets pounce on Suter , Semin and maybe Jagr and sew that C on Kovalchuks jersey I am pretty sure he is the only player in that room besides Hedberg and Marty that knows where he wants to play the rest of his career.

I dunno I feel like the fact that it's taken this long may show that he wants to remain a Devil, but the offers from other teams are far more lucrative, so that's where he's conflicted. I forgot who said this first (might have been Todd) but I feel like the longer the decision takes the better it looks for the Devils, but he's the only one who really knows what's going on.

Whatever contract he signs, it's for what is likely the rest of his career, at the least til he's 35. Lot of people getting pretty angry out there over a man deliberating the location of his career for the next decade with his family. Sure it sucks to wait and wait, but come on... I think he's pretty entitled to a few days of pondering with his family.

To me it's rather certain it's down to NJ / Minn / Pitt

Agreed. Minnesota can afford to give him more money, so my bet is he goes there. It is his home town (and not in the Eastern Conference), so I could live with that decision.

ditto. he stays home, where his fiance is from... and they make lots and lots and lots of money. Koivu remains captain, which then goes to Parise when Mikko retires. .. but then again, Koivu is only 2 years older than Parise. Parise won't be captain of that team. ... (Koivu is captain, right?)

His fiance is from North Dakota, and if he does go there I don't think it would be long before he is given the C. No offense to Koivu, but he isn't half the leader Zach is

So he wasn't considering any of this prior to July 1? Seriously. He has weighed Minny over Jersey for some time now. There must be something else going-on and that is probably a third team.

I can't imagine that Minny isn't offering big $$ long term so what's the hang? He must like NJ and I believe being Captain in NJ weighs on his decision but if he were to consider re-locating Minny would be the logical choice. If it was simply between the two wouldn't he have made-up his mind by now?

No he probably wasn't considering it prior to FA. As he has said multiple time, he wasn't lying when he said he wanted to return to NJ and was busy negotiating and thinking about returning. For god's sake man give him a day or two, it's the rest of his career he is dealing with.

How do you know what kind of a leader Koivu is/isn't ?

The fact that they rotated the captaincy and only ended up giving it to him because their coach didn't want that to happen anymore.

And it's more about Parise then it is about Koivu.

Still you know absolutely nothing about Koivu. Minnesota has been rotating the captaincy I think since their inception. He is the best guy to take the captaincy, and I guess Yeo didn't like the idea.

They rotated it until Lemaire left. He did it because no one distinguished themselves enough to be the full time captain. The fact that Koivu wasn't captain then is enough to say that Lemaire didn't see him as captain material

Maybe cause he was 24 or so? Came into NHL in 05-06. Lemaire left in 08-09. You know how reluctant Lemaire is to give responsibility to youngsters.
